Prep
Pre-Prep (Forms 1 and 2)
Based on solid foundations introduced in Reception, throughout Forms 1 and 2, children continue to grow in confidence and independence.
Small classes enable our Teaching Team, with the assistance of experienced Teaching Assistants, to provide all children with the levels of support, challenges and attention they deserve.
Pupils are happy and nurtured and subsequently make excellent progress in all curriculum areas.
We hear all children read, either individually or in a very small group, on a daily basis, resulting in them rapidly becoming fluent and confident early readers.
The Teaching Team also join the children in the dining room at lunchtime and supervise both morning and afternoon playtimes.
Weekly home/school learning logs also give parents an insight into their child’s week at school, complete with photographs.
Prep (Forms 3 – 6)
By the time your child reaches Prep (Key Stage 2) they will be gaining in confidence and ready for new challenges. They will be fully familiar with the Prep staff which makes the transition between Pre-Prep and Prep seamless.
Events, such as ‘Moving up Mornings’, House Assemblies and Theme Days, ensure that the children are able to take change in their stride. They happily interact, support and care for one another.
Nurturing all Achievers
At Highfields we pride ourselves on our high expectations of the children and we have an evolving curriculum that allows the children to make decisions, follow their interests and achieve success.
As a supportive teaching team, we frequently meet to discuss and monitor each child’s progress thus ensuring that any areas of difficulty are identified and we are catering for all learning styles and abilities.
It is our aim that all children in Prep will develop a real love of learning and an enquiring mind, leaving Highfields with happy memories, being secure and well prepared and ready to embark on the next stage of their academic career: quality learners, quality people.
Leadership Skills and Development
Elections are an annual event, where Form 6 children are invited to stand for positions of responsibility, including Head Boy and Head Girl. All the children are involved in this decision making process, following election protocol. This, we believe, instils in the Form 6 children both a sense of pride and leadership.
The right senior school of your choice is paramount to your child and to the School. From the age of 7, the teaching team will begin to guide the children in their preparation for the next stage of their education.
As we prepare the children for senior school, they continue to benefit from many specialist teachers whilst remaining under the care and guidance of their Form Teacher, who also serves as a principal contact for parents.
All Form Teachers welcome parents and guardians to discuss any concerns, matters of interest or progress at their convenience; this is a valuable asset to our family policy.
Highfields develops confident, well rounded and curious young people who are suitably ready for the next step in their education. Why not book a visit and meet our fantastic team who are ready to support your child in their educational journey.
