Wolfit Festival success for Highfields

Wolfit Festival Friday 28th March 2014

Pupils from Forms 5 and 6 were entered into this year’s Sixteenth Wolfit Festival in the Dramatic Solos section with very pleasing results.

In Form 5, all pupils were commended with Amelia Snell and Kitty Hawthorn sharing third place, Celia Good winning second place and Connie Ferrer was awarded first place with distinction for her performance of ‘Izzy Wizzy Gets Busy’ by Simon Parker.

In Form 6, again all pupils were commended.   Rosie Staniforth and Alice Hornsby achieved joint third place, Bethany Cartwright came second and the winner in this group was Matthew Smith who delivered a terrific performance of ‘I’m Cheesed Off’ by Jeffrey DuCann Grenfell-Hill.

The Wolfit Festival is held in memory of Sir Donald Wolfit, a famous actor/manager who was born in 1902 in Balderton, Newark and died in 1968.  The Wolfit Endowment Fund provides grants for talented local people who wish to pursue a career in acting or the performing arts.
