Monday saw the U8&9’s hit the road as they travelled out to Wellow House School.
Over in the netball, the A team were up first and the Form Four girls started aggressively, with much of the first half near our goal. Wellow took an early lead, with Eloise equalising before half time. In the second half, our girls played well again but a slightly more aggressive Wellow side won 3-1 in the end. A marvellous effort from all the girls who worked excellently as a team and are really starting to ‘gel’.
The B team (Form Three girls plus Sriya – Form Four’s newest member) had a hard act to follow but once again started with all guns blazing. A great first half resulted in us being 1-0 up with some great play particularly between Zara and Ruby as goal attack and goal shooter. The second half also was heavily in our direction but a late goal from Wellow finished the game at 1-1. An incredible improvement for these girls from their previous performances – Mes McGhie and the parents watching were very proud
The football kicked off with the U9’s, playing on a tight pitch. The boys managed to adapt their playing style as the game went on and their ability to pass quickly created a number of great scoring opportunities- chances that were eagerly gobbled up by Kyle, who helped himself to a hat-trick. Further goals for Arthur and Brodie, ensured there was no way back for the hosts. Final Score 5-0.
The U8’s also found conditions tricky, as they went behind to a freak own goal from a long throw in. However the boys quickly dusted themselves down as Thomas rifled the scores level, with a fine effort from distance. This gave the boys the encouragement they needed as Henry and Jack, went on to further add to the tally and take a well earned victory. Final Score 3-1.
