Postponed from last Friday due to rain, we enjoyed glorious sunshine this afternoon and a very special guest star in the form of Chelsea player Patrick Bamford, 20, who is an Old Highfeldian.
Mr Lewis, our Head of PE, organised a fantastic afternoon for all the children from Nursery to Form 6. Having completed their field events during the day, including javelin, long jump and discus, with Head Boy Jamie Staunton setting new records in the boys’ long jump and ball throw, the children took to the track this afternoon with a packed audience of family and friends to cheer them on.
The Infants ran in sprinting races, the great sack race and egg and spoon. The Juniors ran sprints and long distance up to 1600 metres for Form 6, ending in the brilliant relay race across all years. Representing our four houses of Clumber, Newstead, Rufford and Welbeck, the overall winners this year were Welbeck whose House members enjoyed a lap of honour around the track.
Patrick enjoyed a question and answer session conducted by Mr Lewis who put the children’s questions to him, answering the wierd and wonderful questions from the children with great good humour.
Thank you, Mr Lewis, for a Sports Day we shall not forget!
