It was wall to wall sunshine at this year’s Southwell Ploughing Match, hosted in the beautiful setting of Oxton Hill. There were many attractions, including vintage tractor and horse ploughing, show jumping, shire horses, hedge laying, steam engines, threshing demonstrations, horticulture and domestic produce classes, rural crafts and farmers’ markets and tradestands.
The Highfields stand was buzzing with many visitors, especially a number of former pupils including one gentleman who was in Highfields’ founding year when we were located above Sheldrake’s chemist’s shop in Appletongate! We treated visitors to our stand with our usual world record breaking challenges and children were keen to see their names and scores appear on our leader board. It was a great day. Thank you to all those Highfields families who came to see us.
