Beyond the Classroom
Enriching the curriculum at Highfields gives the children the opportunity enjoy a wide variety of new experiences. We have activity days, outside visitors, specialist workshops and some very popular residential trips which give the children a wholly different perspective on learning and School life.
We are fortunate in that our extensive outdoor environment allows us the unique opportunity to frequently take learning outside the classroom; our grounds are widely utilised through a range of curricular and extra-curricular activities allowing the children’s curiosity to flourish. We believe learning should be fun – there is no learning without laughter.
We want the children to be able to ‘think outside the box’ and stand out from the crowd.
A wide range of extra-curricular activities is provided to enrich the children’s experiences. The children are encouraged to pursue their interests by participating in a variety of lunchtime (12.30 – 1.30pm) and after School activities (3.45 – 4.45pm).
These vary according to the time of year and demand, and include:
- Sport
- Art
- Needlecraft
- Pottery
- Cookery
- Drama
- ICT
- Music – choir and orchestra
- Ball skills
- Tennis
- Chess
