Highfields School is a registered charity (no 528261) and a limited company (Newark Preparatory School Company Limited, no 00396309).
The School is led by the Headteacher, Mrs Sarah Lyons, who reports to the Board of Governors which meets at least once a term. Co-opted onto this Committee, without voting rights, are the Headteacher and a teacher representative.

There is no requirement that a Governor has to have, or has to have had, children at the School. The mix of occupations provides assistance in much of their work which covers personnel, marketing, the school buildings and supplies, finance and strategy. The Board seeks to maintain excellent relationships with parents and keeps parents up to date through the Parent Governors and the School newsletter.
