Prep (Forms 3-6) Key Stage 2

By the time your child reaches Prep (Key Stage 2) they will be gaining in confidence and ready for new challenges. They will be fully familiar with the Prep staff which makes the transition between Pre-Prep and Prep seamless.

Events such as  ‘Moving up Mornings’, House Assemblies and Theme Days ensure that the children are able to take change in their stride. They happily interact, support and care for one another.

Nurturing high achievers

At Highfields we pride ourselves on our high expectations of the children and we have an evolving curriculum that allows the children to make decisions, follow their interests and achieve success.

As a supportive teaching team we frequently meet to discuss and monitor each child’s progress thus ensuring that any areas of difficulty are identified and we are catering for all learning styles.

It is our aim that all children in Prep will develop a real love of learning and an enquiring mind; that they will leave Highfields with happy memories, secure and well prepared and ready to embark on the next stage of their academic career: quality learners, quality people.

Leadership skills and development

Elections are an annual event, where Form 6 children are invited to stand for positions of responsibility – including Head Boy and Head Girl. All the children are involved in this decision making process, following election protocol. This, we believe, instils in the Form 6 children both a sense of pride and leadership.

The right senior school of your choice is paramount to your child and to the School. From the age of seven, the teaching team will begin to guide the children in their preparation for the next stage of their education.

“Academic achievement is excellent” (ISI Inspection Report, 2019)

Highfields is widely recognised as offering high educational standards. In our most recent ISI Inspection in June 2019, inspectors concluded:

  • “Academic achievement is excellent”;
  • “Pupils’ attitude to earning is exceptional”; and
  • “Personal development is excellent” (ISI Inspection Report, June 2019).

Highfields pupils go on to a wide range of independent senior schools and local grammar schools.

As we prepare the children for senior school they continue to benefit from many specialist teachers whilst remaining under the care and guidance of their Form teacher, who also serves as a principal contact for parents.

All Form teachers welcome parents and guardians to come and discuss any concerns, matters of interest or progress at their convenience; this is a valuable asset to our family policy.
