Highfields wins Best Brass for second year running

Form 5 cornet player Isabelle Robertshaw has scooped the Best Brass trophy in the Primary Young Musician contest, the second year running for Highfields.  Isabelle beat a number of trumpet, cornet and flute players in the heats at Highfields last week and walked home with the Best Brass award at the final at Barnbygate Methodist Church last night, Wednesday 26th March 2014.  She played one of her favourite pieces, Easy Tiger, by Pam Wedgewood.

Primary Young Musician is run by the Newark and Southwell Rotary Clubs in association with Newark Music Club Young Musicians and The Ransome Band.

Last year’s Best Brass winner was Ben Kirkwood, then in Form 5, playing his trumpet so this is the second consecutive year Highfields has won this prestigious prize.
