The date has been announced for Highfest 2018 which this year will be on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th June 2018. This is the FFH’s biggest event in the year. Tickets are now on sale – application form can be downloaded here.
Following on from last year’s successful Highfest 2017 Five-a-Side football tournament, the Highfest team is looking to run another Five-a-Side football tournament as part of the Highfest 2018 celebrations. The competition is open to all current Highfields pupils, and the children have decided that this year, as last year, each year group will be invited to enter (at least) one team (mix of boys and girls if possible) into the competition. The competition will be played on the afternoon of Saturday 23rd June.
To enter the competition, teams need to be submitted through the completion of an Entry Form (see website) which needs to be completed and handed in to the office by Friday 8th June. The children need to fill in the form with (a) name of the country that their term is representing – 1st and 2nd choices, (b) the names of between 5-8 players in the team, and (c) the name of their Team Manager, who should be a parent. The competition entry forms are in a plastic folder in the FFH drawer in the Main School Office, along with competition publicity posters.
Last year was our 5th consecutive Highfest with a Big Top Circus event which included a staggering array of activities: face painting, festival drafts, circus skills workshop, samba music workshop, bouncy castles and slide, 5-a-side football tournament, welly wanging, hook-a-duck, the stocks (poor Mr Lewis!), splat-a-rat. With entertainment from live band The Supanovas, the party went on into the evening with the Highfest Disco, evening cinema and singsong around the campfire.
Food was served throughout the entire day by our fabulous Chef Ling and his team, with a BBQ lunch, afternoon cream tea, chilli supper and hot pasties at midnight. Our well stocked bar featured fine wines from Ann et Vin and heritage ales from Welbeck Brewery…
Hardy festival goers pitched tents for overnight camping, although some took glamping to a new height in luxury yurts or their own caravans (very smart). The cricket pitch was transformed into a field resembling Glastonbury. Breakfast appeared as if by magic with hot bacon and sausage rolls, muffins and hot chocolate. What more could we eat after that lot?!

The FFH would like to say a big, big thank you to everyone who supported Highfest 2017. It was a blast and yet again has provided us with some very special schoolday memories of Highfields. Our very special thank go to:
- Chef Ling and Jordan for going beyond the call of duty in providing us with simply the finest food you will ever find at any festival
- Mr Saunders for his on-site support and expertise
- Mr and Mrs Mason (our own Des and Angie) for running the bar
- Mr Thomson for his invaluable and unflappable help
- and to Mrs Abel without whom none of this would have been possible because she thought of it
We would also like to thank all the teachers who have kindly volunteered their time; the children for making our colourful bunting, all the parent volunteers who have helped us is setting up the event and for giving their time during it to ensure that every activity was supervised and – of course – to everyone who bought a ticket and came along to enjoy this unique experience at our amazing school.

Launch Party – Friday 31st March 2017
At last the most hotly sought-after tickets of the year are on sale for Highfest17! Organised by our FFH, this is a fun-filled weekend including, this year, a big top with circus workshop, craft stalls and sweetie shops, sports tournaments and amazing live music in the evening. All accompanied by BBQ lunch and gourmet supper plus the optional/obligatory (!!) overnight camping.
Friday 31st March was launch day and sales were spectaular with lots of interest from parents and children eager to reserve their spot at THE Highfields event of the year. Earlybird ticket prices apply from today until 26th May, so don’t forget to get yours reserved as soon as possible. Contact the FFH to book your tickets NOW to avoid disappointment.
