Highfest 2016 finally arrived and this year it was bigger than ever! Hosted by our wonderful FFH, for the 4th year running we wished a Happy Highfest to everyone at our open air music festival and overnight camping here at school. The occasion was made even more special by a “visit” from Her majesty who took time out of her hectic schedule as she celebrated her 90th birthday to come and join in the fun. Happy birthday, ma’am.
Entrance to Highfest this year included bouncy slide and castle, pinatas, 5-a-side football tournament, welly wanging, hook a duck, splat the rat, the stocks, colouring in competition, word search and Highfest crosswords, children’s craft activity, live Euro’16 screenings, performance by school band, live music from The Kopy Katz, evening cinema, disco and campfire with singsong. In addition there was the luxury of an all day bar stocked with draft beer from Welbeck Abbey Brewery and Ann et Vin wines, lunchtime BBQ, pony rides, Pop Up & Pamper tent, face painting, Highfest shop, delicious afternoon cream teas, ice cream, candy floss and Mr Ling’s famous chilli & rice supper. What a lot to pack in!
Specially made medals were given to all the children for participating in the football tournament or various craft competitions which they will hopefully keep as a souvenir of this very special weekend.
Saturday night went on into the small hours and there were some bleary eyes on Sunday morning. A good thing Mr Ling and his assistant Jordan were up early to cook sausages and bacon for the hardy campers who braved the rain to make Highfest 2016 truly awesome.
Thank you to the Committee and all the volunteer parents, grandparents and friends who helped out, as well as our generous sponsors Companion Veterinary Clinic, Joy Gosney Illustration, Langleys, NFU Mutual, PrimePrint and Savills. Here is a mini gallery of our happy memories…
