All the children from Reception to Form 6 joined in our wonderful Harvest Festival this afternoon, Thursday 9th October, at Balderton Methodist Church. With a welcome from our Head Boy, Joseph Whaley, proceedings included a brilliant Harvest Rap by Form 3 and a delightful Harvest Samba by Forms 5 and 6, overseen by our new Head of Music, the inspirational Mrs Rowen Cozens, and conductor Mr Jim Stretton.
The Infants stole the show with their rendition of Mr Scarecrow, complete with all the actions, and Choir sang Harvest of Love.
The Reverend Mark Roberts gave the address and there was a retiring collection in aid of Save the Children. Head Girl Kitty Hawthorne concluded the service with prayers and closing thoughts.
Our gifts of harvest boxes have already been delivered to local people in Newark along with personal letters written by the children.
A great thank you to all the teachers who put this wonderful service together in just four weeks since we returned for the start of the Autumn Term at Highfields and very well done to all the children for their fantastic efforts. A special thank you to our terrific music teachers who led the children in playing the congregation out to a fanfare of brass.
