Form 5 Yorkshire Residential day one – RSPB Bempton Cliffs, Monday 11th May 2015

Monday 11th May 2015: day one of Form 5’s week-long residential in beautiful North Yorkshire.  The children enjoyed a very successful first day, travelling up by minibus via the magnificent and blustery Humber Bridge.  RSPB Bempton Cliffs, which was recently featured on BBC2’s Springwatch, was the first destination.  Located on the Flamborough Head Heritage Coast between Bridlington and Filey, these towering chalk cliffs are home to over 200,000 seabirds between April and August, making the cliffs seem alive – with adults bringing food to their nests or young chicks making their first faltering flights.  Form 5 spotted a fascinating number of birds including gannets, guillemots and puffins!  After a truly windswept experience the children headed for Cober Hill, in the village of Cloughton between Scarborough and Whitby, which will be their home until Friday.  [Photo from last year’s Form 5.]
