Fireworks safety advice

Last week, Mrs Saunders invited some firefighters into School to talk to Pre-School, Reception, Form 1 and Form 2, ahead of Bonfire Night.

The firemen told us that, if we were to get sparks on our clothes, we should ‘stop, drop and roll.’ They also suggested that under fives are given glow sticks, instead of sparklers, as they’re just as much fun, but much safer for them.

We were also reminded about keeping pets indoors, standing well back from fireworks, only adults should ever light fireworks and we should never return to a lit firework. We also learned that it is against the law for under 18’s to be sold fireworks in this country.

The firefighters let us each have a turn at using their hose and climbing aboard the fire engine too.
