Members of the FFH were only too happy to help with refreshments on the occasion of the visit to Highfields by the last surviving Dambuster Sqn Ldr George “Johnny” Johnson on Friday 23rd May, who taught at Highfields after the war. The hall was packed with former pupils who were specially invited for a question and answer session with Johnny and his great friend Eric Quinney, also an RAF pilot who actually flew the planes in the 1954 film “The Dambusters”.
Thank you, FFH, for making our many guests feel very welcome with fresh coffee and pastries and for helping get the hall ready with beautiful flowers and vintage bunting. Many guests commented how wonderful it was to be back at Highfields again after so many years! It really was a day to remember.
