Didn’t we have a lover-ly time…

…the day we went to SOUTHWELL PLOUGHING MATCH! The county’s country event of the year according to Country Life magazine.  Celebrating all rural traditions, the show included general and vintage ploughing, horse ploughing, children’s riding classes, ridden hunters, show jumping, shire horses, private driving, side saddle, beef and dairy cattle, sheep, corn, roots and fodder and hedge laying.  Other attractions included working steam engines, a threshing demonstration, tough farmer challenge, horticulture and domestic produce classes, dog show, rural craft, farmers’ marker and tradestands and an amazingly realistic WW1 centenary display,There were free tractor and trailer rides around the site which this year was on Burnett’s Farm in Little Carlton.
