Wollaton Park provided the backdrop for the Nottingham Inter-School Cross-Country Championships today, with a strong Highfields contingent in both boys’ and girls’ U9s and U11s teams. Nineteen schools from across the country took part with 450+ runners, ensuring competition was stiff.
The gruelling start sees competitors make the lung bursting climb uphill toward the iconic manor house, before swinging left to pick up the woodland trail and then making the final turn back across the fields to home and the finish line. The Highfields teams all settled quickly into their running and embraced the chilling wind and challenging course; their final positions were listed as follows:
Martha 19th, Beatrix 34th, Kitty 38th, Rebecca 68th, Jessica 84th.
Olly 24th, Shahid 62nd, Jaden 77th, Sam 87th
Meg 16th, Scarlett 32nd, Eva 38th, Alice 63rd.
Hector 29th, Luke 40th, Harry 51st, Henry 66th.
