Next week Highfields will be enjoying a ‘Creative Arts’ week, between Monday 13th and Friday 17th October, inclusive. As we constantly endeavour to introduce our children to new experiences, we are using the National Gallery’s Take One Picture project as our foundation for the week.
During the week, lessons will be planned around the content of this picture and the artist; therefore, the children will still have their curriculum lessons but with a different focus during the week. We have also sourced different people to visit school and work with the children in a variety of workshops, some of which are available to the whole school and some extensions, more specifically for the Upper Key Stage 2 children. Both key stages will work with Jim Stretton, our new school brass music teacher; Mrs Keen for Drama workshops; Ms Gosney for bunting making in KS1 and journal making in KS2; and ArtsNK Dance Group. KS2 children will also have a whole morning or afternoon dedicated to Forest Schools.
We hope that every child will find some aspect of the arts that they enjoy or develop a new interest in. Follow the week here on our website.
