CREATIVE ARTS WEEK – 13th-17th October 2014

As we constantly endeavour to introduce our children to new experiences, we are this week hosting a CREATIVE ARTS WEEK which is taking place across all year groups within School.

Using the National Gallery’s “Take One Picture” project as our foundation for the week, all curriculum lessons will have a different focus.  A number of special visitors will be joining us, including our new brass teacher Mr Jim Stretton who is holding a special Brass Workshop on Thursday 16th October.  Expect some noise from this!  Other visitors include local artist and children’s author and illustrator Miss Joy Gosney who will be making bunting with KS1 and journals with KS2.  In addition there will be drama with Mrs Keen and dance with the ArtsNK Dance Group.

The highlight of the week for many children is the opportunity to get wet and muddy with extended Forest Schools sessions both at School and at local beauty spot Hill Holt Wood.  Never has Highfields seen so many pairs of Wellington boots – all named, hopefully!  Follow the website for day by day reports of the week.
