This afternoon we took some of our keenest mathematicians from Forms 6 and 5 to Trent College to take part in a maths challenge. This was a fun and interactive problem-solving afternoon. In teams of four, the children each competed to see who could build the strongest and / or most cost-effective bridge using recyclable materials only.
Ten primary schools were invited to attend, producing twenty teams of budding engineers, working together to plan, design and construct their steadfast bridges. The children had to think under pressure, work collaboratively and be creative in order to be successful!
Sadly we were not winners on this occasion but we had a marvellous time and would like to thank the staff and pupils at Trent for giving us such a warm welcome.
