We had great fun this weekend at Collingham Show. Always a family favourite, this was the show’s 167th year. The timetable of events included horse and pony classes, plashing (hedging), ploughing and an amazing exhibition of horticultural, flower arranging, domestic produce and handicrafts in the horticultural tent. Our spot was alongside the main ring where we enjoyed the judging of heavy horses (agricultural horses only) with categories including best mare, best foal, best yearling and best 2 year old (filly or gelding). Other highlights included a children’s ridden fancy dress class, a falconry demonstration, a grand display of vintage vehicles, tractors and farming bygones and of course the wonderful dog show. To top it off the BBMF provided a flypast in a Hurricane which was stunning!
We had many visitors at the Highfields stand, especially lots of former pupils from days gone by. Take a look at our gallery below to see if you can spot three generations of one family in particular..!
