On Wednesday 26th March, Highfields School Band and Orchestra performed at the finals of the Rotary Club Primary Young Musician of the Year Competition. Our Band now has members as young as Form 4 and they played brilliantly, especially the joint item – Yellow Submarine – and all were very well behaved.
We had two soloists in the finals, Jasmine Clarke on piano and Isabelle Robertshaw on trumpet. Isabelle came away with Best Brass Player after her terrific performance of ‘Easy Tiger’ by Pam Wedgewood. This was a win for Highfields for the second year running, the Best Brass cup having been won by Ben Kirkwood last year. Congratulations to all!
Thank you and well done to all pupils who were involved.
