Over 300 children from 12 schools descended on Highfields today, Thursday 20th November, for our annual cross country meet. There are 4 races: U9 Girls and U9 Boys (1200m) and U11 Girls and U11 Boys (1800m). The course is set entirely within our own grounds and involves running around the rugby pitch, through trees and woodland and around the back of the cricket pitch.
Organised by Deputy Head, Mrs Turner, this is one of the highlights of the Highfields sporting year. With so many competitors and guests attending, we were glad to have the help of many parents acting as marshalls and time keepers, plus our FFH gang who served the wonderful refreshments provided by Cook, which included home baked carrot cake and warm mince pies. Just the job on a cold afternoon!
Head of Boys’ PE Mr Lewis started the first race (U9 Girls) at 1.40pm and from that moment on it was screaming and cheering as the children dug deep and raced round the course.
Schools attending included: Burton Hathow,Grantham Prep, Lincoln Minster, Lowes Wong, Nottingham High School and Nottingham Girls High School (junior schools), Plumtree, Ranby House, Rauceby School, Salterford House and Wellow.
