This week Animation Nation came to town, with animator in chief, Barry Skillen, leading a series of workshops over 3 days, as part of our Hero and Legends topic. Pupils were tasked to come up with a concept, storyboard and characters for their very own short film, before directing and editing each scene. Using the ‘stop, go animation,’ akin to popular films such as the Lego Movie, Chicken Run and Wallace and Gromit, children then brought their projects to life. Carefully moving and manipulating their plasticine models and painstakingly collecting stills with the specialist cameras and software – 12 frames for every second of animation! Finally, pupils came up with titles, music and credits to complete their project. After a top secret screening, Barry has now taken the films for a final edit. We hope to share them here soon!
