On Tuesday Forms 1 & 2 went to Newark Town Hall for a visit into the past. The children learnt about how the traditions of Christmas today were brought into the fashion in Victorian times.
The children enjoyed making a range of items for a Victorian Christmas, this included making a Christmas card, Christmas cracker and a table decoration. The children then were told about Stir-up Sunday and what traditionally was put into the mixture. Each child then got to stir the mixture and make a Christmas wish. The trip ended with a visit from Newark’s Mayor and the children toasted her with a traditional Christmas drink ‘Wassail’!
